Starting home care, simply, at the right moment
Every situation deserves an attentive answer. Vitaloria organises your care with responsiveness, precision and kindness, from the first contact to the moment home care begins.
It all starts with a simple conversation. You can contact us directly, or your request can be passed on by a loved one, your doctor, a hospital or a care partner.
We quickly review your situation so we can organise your care as soon as possible. Depending on your needs, our teams can step in the same day, sometimes within the hour. A first assessment is then carried out at your home to build care that fits you. With a medical prescription, basic care and nursing care are covered by the basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG) or supplementary insurance, depending on your file.
Your journey begins here.
Every journey is unique. From our very first conversation, we coordinate the different steps of your care journey so we can build, together with you, care that is personal, smooth and lasting.
- 01
First conversation
You call us, or it is your family, your family doctor, the hospital, a rehabilitation centre or a care partner who gets in touch. One number, one dedicated contact: we take note of your situation and what you need.
- 02
A visit to your home
A nurse comes to your home, for about an hour, to get to know you: your life story, your medical history, your habits, your living space. From there, and from the information provided by your family doctor, we assess your needs precisely.
- 03
Organising your care
We open your care file, then draw up the service agreement and the care plan together. Nursing care and basic care can then begin — the same day if needed — with the small team that will be yours.
- 04
Coordination and follow-up
Your family doctor, our lead nurses and the whole network stay connected throughout your care. We coordinate the care, adjust it over time, and bill your health insurer directly — you pay nothing up front.
A choice that has become the norm in later life.
Staying at home when health declines is not the exception: it is daily life for hundreds of thousands of people, and demand rises every year.
people received home care in Switzerland in 2024 (around 5.3% of the population)
hours of home care provided in 2024, up 10% on the previous year
of home care recipients are 80 years old or older
What is covered, and what is left for you to pay.
With a medical prescription, the basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG) covers nursing care and basic care at home in full. All that remains is the usual deductible and co-payment — that is all.
We bill your health insurer directly, at the official OPAS rate: we handle all the paperwork, and travel costs are on us. Housekeeping, support and overnight care fall under a different type of funding — we explain that clearly, right from the start.

Getting started
A single call is enough. The request can come from you, your family, your family doctor or the hospital. Call us on 058 861 68 68: we take note of your situation, arrange an assessment visit at home, and care can begin the same day, in agreement with you.
The same day. Depending on your needs, our teams sometimes step in within the hour.
Not necessarily. The request for home care can be made by you, a loved one, your family doctor or the hospital. Before care begins, we carry out an assessment at your home, then draw up the prescription (OPAS), which we send to your family doctor for approval and then to your insurer. We take care of all the formalities for you.
A nurse comes to your home, for about an hour, to get to know you: your life story, your medical history, your habits, where you live, your contact details. From this conversation, we assess your needs precisely and build your care plan.
No. We care for people at every age: children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Anyone losing their independence following an illness, an accident, a disability, a chronic condition — or simply as the years take their toll.
Organisation
That is our commitment. At the start of your care, we put together a small team suited to your situation, to build a bond of trust and preserve your bearings — the same faces, as much as possible.
Trained professionals: nurses, community health care assistants (ASSC/FaGe), care aides and health auxiliaries, backed by an administrative team.
We send you a weekly or monthly schedule, by post or email: the visit times and the names of the care professionals. Text-message reminders can also be set up if you wish.
Yes. Just let us know at least 48 hours in advance on 058 861 68 68, so we can reorganise the round. If something unexpected comes up, tell us as early as you can.
Care
Basic care and hygiene (washing, dressing, mobility) and technical nursing care (injections, infusions, complex dressings, wounds, stomas, diabetes, catheters, enteral or parenteral nutrition). We also support mental health care, disability and palliative care — for every age.
Yes, 7 days a week, all year round. On request, support can be provided around the clock.
Yes. We support end-of-life care at home: pain management, support for loved ones, presence and coordination with your doctor and the mobile palliative care team. This care is covered by the basic health insurance, like other home care.
We point you towards transport organisations in the region that provide this service.
Costs & reimbursement
Yes. With a medical prescription, the basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG) covers nursing care and basic care at home in full. Basic insurance is enough: everyone is entitled to it. All that remains is your insurer's usual deductible and co-payment.
No. Care is covered by the basic health insurance (LAMal): everyone can benefit, whatever their insurer. Supplementary insurance can cover other services (housekeeping, support), but basic insurance is enough for nursing care and basic care.
The home assessment is part of the OPAS services (assessment, advice and coordination) and is covered by your insurer as soon as the request comes from your doctor. We talk it through clearly with you before the visit.
Nursing care and basic care are covered by the basic health insurance (LAMal). What is left for you: your insurer's deductible and co-payment, as with any medical service. Home help and support can also be funded depending on your situation — supplementary benefits (PC) or a partner foundation. We point you in the right direction.
Your family doctor signs the OPAS mandate, which we send to your health insurer. We then bill the insurer directly, each month: no advance payment on your part. The insurer only charges you back the co-payment and deductible that apply to you.
Need a hand? We're here for you.
One conversation is enough: we listen, advise you and support you through every step.
